ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 604 – HOUSE RULES
1. The lounge is restricted to members in good standing and their properly authorized guests.
2. The lounge will be open to the public on Remembrance Day, New Years Day, during Legion
Week, and during other special events. All members and guests must comply with ALL conduct
rules contained in this document.
3. The lounge shall be under the direct control of the Bar Steward on duty. The on duty bar
steward will have absolute authority to enforce the ACGO regulations and these house rules.
The overall operation of the lounge shall be the responsibility of the House Chairman who
reports to the branch executive. The House Chairman and President also have authority to
temporarily suspend members for contravening these house rules. No member of the executive
shall reverse a decision of the bar steward in terms of denying bar privileges to a member or
guest.
4. Branch hours will be regulated by the ACGO and shall be posted for all to see. The bar will
close during general meetings.
5. All members/guests shall vacate the premises not later than one half hour following the closure
of the bar.
6. Persons under the legal drinking age will not be served or provided with alcoholic beverages by
the bar steward or any other person.
7. a. Members shall conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times. Persons who are
intoxicated, or appear to be intoxicated will not be served or provided alcoholic beverages by
the bar steward or any other person. If a member is intoxicated at a Legion meeting, that
member will be asked to leave by the Sgt-at-Arms o the chairman of the meeting.
b. Drunkenness, profanity, or riotous, quarrelsome, violent or disorderly conduct will not be
permitted and any person who acts in this manner will be asked to leave the premises. The bar
steward has been instructed to call the police if such a request is not acted upon promptly.
c. Any person, who violates or is alleged to have violated rule 7b, will be subject to a review of
the circumstances by the house chairman who may then initiate a formal review by the
executive committee. The executive committee may recommend to the President that immediate
disciplinary action be taken against any person who is the subject of a formal review under
section 7c.No person shall bring unauthorized alcoholic beverages into the premises. The
removal of alcoholic beverages from the premises is also prohibited. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR
DRINK ALLOWED INTO PREMISES.
8. The use of e-cigarettes, tobacco, vaping, and cannabis products (not permitted) on the premises
and grounds.
9. Members and guests shall be neat, clean and tidy in appearance, and must dress appropriate to
the occasion, which will always require a shirt and shoes. No muscle shirts for men or no mini
shorts, tube tops, or halter tops for women. The wearing of OMC / street gang colours not be
permitted at Legion events and premises as this is contrary to the Legion’s Articles of Faith and
disrespectful of the sacrifices made by our Veterans.
10. Hats shall be removed before entering the lounge, except for the on duty Sgt-at-Arms, Ladies
Auxiliary, or anyone protected by law.
11. No animals shall be permitted on the premises, except working dogs through the CNIB, or
Service Dogs.
12. Lottery and/or gaming activities will not be permitted except those approved by the branch and
in accordance with the ACGO, and by municipal by-laws.
13. The Liquor License Act of Ontario and regulations thereto, and Provincial Command by-laws
take precedence over Branch 604 house rules.
14. NO personal cheques will be cashed at the branch.
15. As of September 1, 2024 – Motion approved at General Meeting June 20, 2024): Any refunds
to a member for Legion related business/activities may only be made if that member has
participated in two (2) General Meetings and one (1) Fund Raising event. Or three (3) General
Meetings.
